United Recording at Electric Lady API Room Oct. ’12

Our last day at Electric Lady Studios was spent upstairs in the API suite where we were the first to track drums in the new renovated room. The API 3288 delivered the punch that we needed for the particular track on Zion (track 11).

As we are getting closer to the release, here is a little teaser from HillsongTV.

United Recording in Electric Lady Studios ‘A’ NYC ’12

After a 2 month break of full tracking, whereby overdubs were taking place in Australia, it was deemed necessary to do a little more recording as a full band in NYC. We took 4 days and spent it in the world famous Electric Lady Studios, made famous by Jimmy Hendrix. We took up residency in studio A and had a great time recording a few fresh songs for the album. Here are few of the moments captured along the way.

As I mentioned here, Zion is due for release on the 23rd of February, 2013.

Jimmy Boy…you never mentioned being in the famed studio…I did see Jimmy Hendrix “live” in his “Electric Ladyland” tour…
His opening act was Deep Purple….
I’m old but how I remember that night the wall of sound…incredible.

You surely felt some history while you were in studio.
Thanks for a great couple of days with you and Sidney. Maybe see you in Portland.

Recording a new United album #Un1t3d ’12

The month of May began in NYC at a studio called ‘The Space’ in the lower east side of Manhattan. While the studio presented some interesting challenges, the vibe was great and it was ideal for capturing a band live. Over 2 months, ideas and demos were worked into the recorded songs that are soon to be heard with the coming release on the 23rd of Feb, 2013.

As with Aftermath, we prioritized keeping the band recording live in the one room as opposed to building the songs piece by piece. This meant a rather large setup and an equally large input list to accomodate different ‘work stations’ for the boys to create at, depending on what a particular song needed at the time.

Here are a few pictures for a taste of what went on :
